When should you book in for maintenance?
First maintenance is recommended at the 4–6-week mark. Depending on how the locs are maturing the next appointment can be 2-3 months later. As time goes on maintenance sessions will get shorter as less time will be spent on the body of the loc with a focus on the roots. Next apt will then be another 2-4 months and so on. Thefirst 3 months are the most important to train your locs into shape. The more maintenance locs receive the quicker they will mature.

Soak dreadlocks in warm water with a few drops of essential oils for 10 minutes. Pour baking soda over the dreadlocks and roughly rub in. Pour Apple Cider Vingar into the locs. A fizzing reaction will occur in which removes the build up. Rinse out, shampoo, conditioner.
Loc Build Up
Lint from clothing can build up in locs. Lint can also be collected from your pillowcase. Use 100% cotton or silk is best. Silk is smoother and will reduce friction while sleeping. Chemicals from regular shampoo and conditioner can retain moisture.
Removal
Locs can be brushed out if they have been made correctly and cared for. Brushing out is a time consuming process. Locs that are hard with hair breakage cannot be brushed out. Keep locs that have been removed to reattach at a later date.
